Bizzell statement that in college ''The student is asked to take a certain distance on all of his or her Commitments, to weigh them against alternatives'' is correct. Any student who is enrolled in a college or university is expected to have their views both challenged and questioned. I also agree to a certain extent with the perception that students are able to remain loyal to their orginial world views before and after education. The reason being is that as you move on in your education you also grow as a person which may cause you to feel differently about things you were once set on. Before and Durning education you may feel a certain way then notcie your view slightly start to drift in the other direction after education. The reason for this is because through out your education you will become introduced to new ways of thinking in which you may adapt to. Students can adopt different world views from other sources while still remaining loyal to their own which is called "Playing both fields". i personally do not believe that there is anything wrong with playing both fields. I think being able to play both fields shows that you are well rounded and open minded and also relate to both sides of an arguement.

Response to #1 Discussion question
After reading “What Happens when Basic Writers come to College?” by Patricia Bizzell, I have concluded that I agree with Bizzells' perception that students can gain by not giving up their own world views when it comes to writing. There can be many benefits of drafting papers with ones view of the world in mind. Drafting papers with your own orginial view of the world can help you make a connection between the prompt and a personal exprience you may have gone through. Connecting on a personal level can help engage the writer in his/her work. It can also help you understand the plot of your writing being that you are able to relate to something familiar. Another benefit of drafting your papers such as Bizzell suggested is that it may spark a connection between your writing and the reader. The person reading your writing may favor the same world views as you do which may lead to them reading more of your writings which benefits you as a writer.
